How It Got Started
I grew up on a farm in Arizona. Lots of cows, irrigation ditches, adventure, and a good horse named Tumbleweed. Later, I wrote about ditches and how the lack of water affects people in the desert, people like me.*
Stories and research are the center of much of what I do. I spent a lot of time while growing up listening to stories of farming, World War II, sisters, baseball games, and so much more. Later in life, I got paid to interview politicians and community leaders. I then came home and started listening to the people around me; often humble women of faith. They usually think they have nothing to say, but I know differently. I think my job is to show that they do.
